make&model is a collaborative software design studio based out of Oakland and Chicago. We design product experiences, ship software, and grow communities. Our clientele range from non-profit career advice platforms to bike share mobile apps and boutique business operations software. They are for-good companies, technical non-profits, lifestyle applications and productivity software.
We’re looking for a UX/UI designer to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Can demonstrate a strong user-centric approach to their work
- Cares deeply about how their work will ultimately function and impact the humans who use it
- Has been part of user research processes in the past
- Has managed creating and iterating on design systems to support their work
- Shows strength in typography, color, and information layout.
This is an onsite role in Chicago, however we’re very flexible with folks working from home when they’d like to. We work a four day work week with our clients, and spend one day a week (Friday) on professional development (be it writing blog posts, community work, experimenting with tools and process, or working on internal projects.)
We are also heavily involved in the design community. We run UX Camp, UX Berkeley, UX San Francisco, co-organize Offline Camp, speak at industry conferences and meetups, and write about our experience. We will give you the tools to take part in your community in a manner that feels most comfortable to you.
We offer better than market rates, full health and dental coverage (no matter what your coverage requirements are), and we have 6 weeks of vacation time per year.
If this type of working environment interests you, then we’d love to hear from you. E-mail us at hello@makemodel.co to get in touch. (Sorry, we do not work with recruiters).
